Far From Me

I’m treading the endless wake between
Have and have not, and I want everything
Skin is singed with frayed nerves reaching in
You endure ‘cause I say when
I’m running breathless
My home is far from me
The yellow days waste
When all is vanity
Now I’m tearing at the floorboards
Searching for the glory that I was promised
Aimless drifting with eyes drawn skyward
All used up and so uninspired
I’m running breathless
My home is far from me
The yellow days waste
When all is vanity
I grow weary
Exhausting agitation will tear me apart
The prey hunts down its own and impales itself
I get mean when I’m hungry
Subdued but I’m starving
there’s something dead inside of me
And I can’t get it out
